The X Band Synthesi zed Converter – Satellite Earth Station (XBSC-SES) is offered both in a rack mount chassis version and modules for inclusion in a NEMA box at the ground station antenna. A given unit can contain up to four downconverters and one upconverter. All four downconverters can be synthesized single conversion converters from X Band to 720 MHz, but two of the four can be synthesized dual conversion converters from X Band to 70 MHz. The synthesized upconverter converts 720 MHz to the desired X Band output frequency. The frequency selection for all converters is via remote interface. On the chassis version all inputs and outputs are on the rear panel. The downconverters are used in a satellite earth station to convert the X Band input to an IF frequency where demodulation and tracking can be accomplished. The upconverter is used for both prepass satellite earth station setup and in performance testing of the satellite earth station.
